Behind the scenes: dulcie's feathers summer '16

Everything has been very feathery in Dulcie land recently!

Summer has well and truly arrived and as ever I'm not feeling prepared (swear it was christmas like a week ago...??!) Last week I had a feather and glitter stall at Rave on Avon and next week I'm going to be back at Love Saves the Day with the wonderful Bristol Bazaar. It's been full steam ahead recently in DFHQ (...my bedroom) making stock ready for festival season.

I've decided to switch my dulcie's feathers shop from where I have it now on bigcartel over to Shopify, so last Friday my pal Ross did a quick shoot for me with some of the new headpieces I've been designing and making. My friend Jahdine (who you might recognise from some previous WESTWORLD shoots I've done with her) kindly modelled for me with one of Ross' design interns Aaliyah.

Here's a few sneak peeks from the shoot - I can't wait to show you the final photos! Stay tuned on my facebooktwitter and instagram to find out when the shop launches and come and say hello at The Bristol Bazaar if you're at Love Saves the Day next weekend. I'll be sharing a pitch with Capes Capes Capes, Neat Frontage and Tezla Designs so between us we'll have you covered for your full festival wardrobe this summer.

Floral fun with Crown and Glory

Flaunting my finished floral crown, photo by Hayley
Yesterday I went to pretty much my dream event - the blogger preview of Crown and Glory's bespoke flower crown pop-up shop! I've been pretty vocal about my love of G&G's products before and as a headdress maker myself I was very excited when I saw that #BlogClub had organised an event.

Upon arrival we were greeted with cherries in champagne and cupcakes by the lovely Sophie and Gareth who run Crown and Glory. Lily and I had the first slot making and our initial job was to choose our flowers and foliage from a wide selection of jars on the adorable C&G cart. One of my favourite flower crowns was lost at Secret Garden Party last year so I wanted something to wear this summer; I decided on some big flowers in bright pinks and purples with smaller neon green buds as an accent.

After picking my flowers Sophie then laid them out on a tray and we had a crown consultation to see which placement of flowers and shape of headpiece I preferred... then I got to relax whilst Sophie got to work putting it all together for me!

You can see the whole process below as well as some of the other bloggers' creations. Crown and Glory's bespoke flower crown pop-up shop will be open on the ground floor of House of Fraser in Cabot Circus all weekend.
