On Friday I took a few snaps of my recent creations up on Brandon Hill to try out my new lens and test the functionality of my headdresses in the rain (they were fine!). The rest of the weekend was spent in a rainy haze at Love Saves the Day festival having a boogie and drinking cider.  Some more pics of that soon when I have recovered! How have you spent bank holiday weekend?

eat : The Christmas Steps

The Christmas Steps, pub, Bristol

Yesterday me and my friend Lewie went for a cheeky little lunch date and thought we'd check out newly opened pub; The Christmas Steps. It's situated, believe it or not, at the bottom of one of Bristol's most picturesque streets, The Christmas Steps, and in its previous incarnation was called 'The Three Sugar Loaves'. It's now been taken over by Bristol institution, Crack Magazine, and given a cool make-over inside and out. The pub has been around since the 1600s and retains a lot of gorgeous original features but with an additional minimal edge. Exposed stonework is juxtaposed with a poster for Simple Things festival and the stairwell to the toilets is papered with old Crack mag covers which reminds you that there is a big focus on music in this venue; DJs play every weekend and there is a weekly music quiz.

What sets it apart from other Bristol venues though is that it is definitely a proper pub; there is certainly an emphasis on good food as well as music. I drank Symonds cider and ate macaroni cheese for lunch which was deeeelish. The  best kind of comfort food made even better by being topped with a generous slice of goat's cheese (my kryptonite) and scrumptious onion marmalade. They had a really good selection of vegetarian options which is obviously important to me and at £6.50 it didn't break my student bank either.  I would definitely like to come back and sample their dinner menu!

You can visit The Christmas Steps facebook page to see their menu and events.

My lovely friend Beth took some gorgeous photographs of my headdresses the other day that I thought I would share with you! I did have another friend modelling them for me but she dropped out last minute so you'll have to put up with my ugly mug instead :)

I've just opened a little Etsy shop where you can buy a few pieces and obviously you can always visit my facebook to see more and place custom orders. You can also see more of Beth's wonderful photography work on her website.

Sorry for the lack of posts recently, I've been working hard for deadlines and exams, trying to catch up on headdress orders and planning my summer. Have any of you got any plans yet?
