I thought I'd share one of my favourite make-up looks from the summer spring couture shows in Paris last week. Make-up artist Peter Philips went for this gorgeous winged eyeliner and silver glitter look for Chanel's 2014 collection; "The eyeliner makes it chic and iconic, but then you've got the sparkle that feels relaxed and fresh yet creates magic." It's sparkly and exciting but definitely toned down enough to wear on a night out (in my staunchly pro-glitter opinion anyway). Funnily its something I've already done similarly at festivals and nights out so its cool to see it on the catwalk... wish I had the complexions of these models though!
This collection is pretty revolutionary in that it is a couture collection featuring trainers on the models feet.... albeit pearl embroidered tweed sneakers worth about a gazillions pounds* You may not be able to afford them any time soon but try the make-up look yourself with Maybelline Master Precise eyeliner and multi-tonal silver glitter.
Chanel's ready-to-wear show featured a very different look. It was almost Picasso style with sharp black eyebrows, strong winged liner and bright splashes of primary colours. It went beautifully alongside a really exciting collection which featured brightly coloured and deconstructed versions of the classic Chanel tweed suit.
What do you think of the make-up on the summer spring catwalks? Has anything caught your eye?
01. Really interesting article on the Independent about the future of couture and how even though they came from such different origins there are similarities between Dior & Chanel these days: "The unbearable lightness of couture: The spring/summer 2014 collections from Chanel and Dior are the most relevant for decades"
