My silhouette on Brandon Hill in Bristol by Jess
A very happy new year to you all! I hope you all had great time welcoming in 2014 and didn't have to put yourself to bed because you drank too much champagne like I did... Ooops.
I love writing my new years resolutions and feel like its a really useful exercise to create some goals at the beginning of the year, this year I decided that I would also review
my resolutions from last year.
1. 'Try a bit harder at everything.'
2013 - This resolution was all about pushing myself a bit more; I think I succeeded. I finished my first year of uni with a not too shabby 2.1. My blog, though I didn't do much in the middle of the year, is still here and ever growing! And though I didn't apply for any work experience placements I was lucky enough to get the position of Arts & Fashion editor at the uni newspaper which is a fantastic opportunity for me.
2014 - This year I want to try even harder at uni; because second year actually counts! My main thing to focus on is my time management; I want to start assignments earlier and keep up with my mammoth reading list. I also want to get some magazine related work experience this year; be it one day in an office or a full blown internship, I just want to do something!
2013 - I feel I half succeeded on this one last year. Moving out of halls allowed me space to get more organised and a clean kitchen so I actually have loads of yummy salad and veggies in the fridge. Because I was travelling around so much this summer I didn't have the opportunity
2014 - This year the fitness aspect of this resolution will be helped by the fact that I live at the top of a humungous hill (ha!). I'm not entirely sure if that counts though! I'm not sure if I have the time to commit to any kind of weekly fitness class but I do want to try out some different activities (planning on going to a roller disco at the end of the month). I also plan to cook more and try different foods.
2013 - My main aim of last year was just to get a job so I could afford to live and also have a fun summer. I managed to get
two jobs and then packed them both in to start working on a Mexican food stall! This meant that I managed to combine the two parts of my resolution; 'get a job' and 'have a wonderful summer of fun and travel'. Additionally to this I started doing something I've always wanted to do and I started my own little business selling
headdresses I had made.
2014 - This year I'm pretty much in the same boat as I was last year but need to start applying to Bristol jobs a little bit earlier. I am also planning on having a complete rebrand of 'Dulcie's Feathers' (any name suggestions welcome) and I hope to have an online shop open by the summer.
2013 - I think in comparison to 2012 this was pretty successful. I spent weekends away in Birmingham, Edinburgh and Cambridge. I also went to festivals in the middle of Wales and the lake district, so I definitely got to see quite a lot of the country. I've got back into being creative and used my sewing machine a lot last year.
2014 - I want need to go abroad this year as the last time I went abroad will be three years ago this summer... eek. I am also planning to refresh my French skills (maybe the trip abroad will coincide with this?) as well as reading more and continuing to make more clothes.
4. Blog Resolutions!
I thought it would be good to have some specific blog resolutions this year and they are as follows:
+ Blog more... blog about everything! I often have accidental blogging hiatuses which are usually due to nothing more than laziness. Some new things I plan to start blogging about are books, cooking and my favourite places to go in Bristol.
+ Meet more bloggers! I went to four different events last year and finally got to meet some really lovely bloggers, I am super excited to do this some more this year.
Plus to keep up with my progress I'm going to do a monthly resolution review post.
Phew! I downloaded a great New Years 'Revolution' pack from
Do What You Love which has some great resources for splitting up your goals and planning out how you will achieve them. I would love to know your resolutions for the year and how you are planning on keeping on track, please leave a comment! :)
