disposable summer - Love Saves the Day

A little backtrack now that I have had my pictures developed...! Love Saves the Day, Love Saves the Night and Love Saves Sunday, needless to say this was a tiring and amazing weekend. I did a few shifts before the festival making the decor, so it was nice to see it all up, the team totally transformed Castle Park.

Highlights were selling some of my first headdresses, fairground rides at Motion, Ms Dynamite, Jah Shaka soundsystem, glittery faces, old friends & new friends! Definitely going back next year.

accessorise your ultimate festival outfit - with pearl & butler & festival no. 6

In my last two posts I have been bemoaning the fact that I'm not going to any more festivals this summer so when I saw that Pearl and Butler were holding a blogger competition to win tickets to Festival No. 6 I had to enter! The task is to show them how you would accesorise your ultimate festival outfit; festival style to me is the art of perfectly combining practicality with ridiculousness.

As you can see from my little timeline my festival style has evolved over the years. I definitely miss that undercut & dip-dye combo from 2011 but not so much that puffball dress from 2008! Elaborate headgear, anything sequinned and fur coats are my personal essentials.Below are my ideal 2013 outfits for day and night time festival frolicking.

festival no. 6 competition entry.

Daytime: I am really liking dungarees and dungadresses this summer, such a nice alternative to the standard denim short look and this pair have some practical pockets for storing your phone/ camera/ programme. Wellington boots are a festival essential (in the UK anyway!) and this summer I was lucky enough to receive this pair for my birthday to replace my old green ones which were practically danced through. Hunters are my personal favourite as they're comfy and last a long time; this gold colour is amazing. I also got this pink hunter rain poncho which folds away into a little pocket so is perfect for carrying around in preparation for a sudden deluge. Your accessories should prepare you for every weather eventuality so in case of sunshine I picked these cute pink wayfarers which I paired with this simple studded bracelet.

Nighttime: Evening time is dress up time! Kimonos have been a big thing this summer and are  a great cover up at night and perfect to pair with an oriental style up-do. I love this leopard print bralet and I personally own three pairs of sequin hotpants cause I think they're that good. Glitter, face paint and bindis are great, the more adornment the better in my opinion. This Topshop glitter looks lovely but glitter from craft stores applied with vaseline is just as good. And of course a statement headpiece like one of my feather headdresses or a floral crown to top off the look!

If you want to enter the competition the deadline is tonight (I wish I'd seen this sooner!) just tweet @costumejewels with the link to your entry and the hashtag #PBFestivalStyle.

instaweek #1

Fish and chips in Stow on the Wold | Balloons at Cornbury festival | Working in the Mexican
Out and about |  my new pink Nike Blazers | Ice-cream  and exploring in the sunshine
Headdress overload | Sewing box organisation | My new creation

As you may have noticed from this post.... I have joined the iPhone brigade. It has felt like a long time coming and finally after about a gazillion old Nokias (definitely not slating those ones with torches though!) I have stepped in to the 21st century and am blessed to own a wonderful phone-camera-everything-ever-device.

Anyway since last time I was here I have been super busy. In between working at a Mexican food stall at festivals (including glastonbury... more on that in a later post!) I have also been making and selling my feather headdresses AND I also moved house (more on that in a later post too!).

The last week has been pretty chilled though. I travelled to work at Cornbury festival in Oxfordshire last Thursday; stopping in the picturesque Stow on the Wold on the way. The weather was beeeautiful so I came back super tanned and "keen for Keane!" who played on the Saturday night. I've spent the rest of the week enjoying my new flat and the sunshine as well as organising all my sewing gear and sorting headdress orders.

How are you all enjoying the heatwave? Follow me on Instagram here, please link me to yours I'm new to all this!
