Just a couple of pictures I meant to put up ages ago from the Mending at the Museum exhibition at the Bristol Museum & Art Gallery.
"Stitching and Thinking is a research project born out of a love of stitched textiles and a conviction of the importance of retaining hand skills within creative practice. The project identifies and explores the values and current comtemporary thinking about hand-making skills reflected through the discipline of stitch."
I have always loved embroidery and think that, especially with written text, the form of embroidery offers something really firm and comforting. I love the red and white colours and the simplistic modern style used in these pieces. I can't wait to get a new sewing machine and get back into some embroidery!

p.s I would love to know what you all think of my new layout! I've finally had enough of pink.... for the mean time anyway.
This is gorgeous! Such a beautiful exhibition, I wish I lived closer to Bristol so that I could come and have a look for myself.
